    适用范围:Nondestructive testing (NDT) methods are used to determineconcrete properties and to evaluate the condition of concrete indeep foundations, bridges, buildings, pavements, dams, and otherconcrete construction. For this report, NDT is defined as generallynoninvasive, with the exception of transport property tests, whichmay cause easilyrepaired surface damage. While coring and loadtesting may be considered nondestructive, they are excluded fromthis report. Refer to ACI 437R for more information about strengthevaluation of existing concrete buildings. NDT methods are applied to concrete construction for fourprimary reasons: 1. Quality control of new construction 2. Troubleshooting problems with new and old construction 3. Condition evaluation of older concrete for rehabilitationpurposes 4. Quality assurance of concrete repairs NDT technologies are evolving and research continues to enhanceexisting methods and develop new methods. The report is intended toprovide an overview of the principles of various NDT methodspracticed and to summarize their applications and limitations.Emphasis is placed on methods that have been applied to measurephysical properties other than the strength of concrete instructures, to detect flaws or discontinuities, and to provide datafor condition evaluation. Methods to estimate in-place compressivestrength are presented in ACI 228.1R.

This standard does not apply to composite metal deck floor or roof assemblies. The primary intended use of this standard is for determining the design requirements for concrete and masonry elements to resist fire and provide fire protection. Tolerance compliance to the provisions for concrete shall be based on information provided in ACI 117. Masonry construction shall comply with TMS 402/ACI 530.1/ASCE 6. The provisions of this standard establish fire resistance based on calculations. The fire resistance associated with an element or assembly shall be deemed acceptable when established by the calculation procedures in this standard or when established in accordance with 1.2.

Many of these findings arebased on older references as the research has reached a maturestate. Parallel procedures are presented for cases where cores areobtained to assess whether concrete strength in a new structurecomplies with strength-based acceptance criteria, and to determinea value based on the actual in-place concrete strength equivalentto the specified compressive strength fc′. Thelatter can be directly substituted into conventional strengthequations with customary strength reduction factors for strengthevaluation of an existing structure. It is inappropriate to useprocedures for determining the equivalent specified concretestrength to assess whether concrete strength in a new structurecomplies with strength-based acceptance criteria. The order of contents parallels the logical sequence ofactivities in a typical core-test investigation. Chapter 3describes how bleeding, consolidation, curing, and microcrackingaffect in-place concrete strength in structures so the investigatorcan account for this strength variation when planning the testingprogram. Chapter 4 identifies preferred sample locations andprovides guidance on the number of specimens that should beobtained. Chapter 5 summarizes coring techniques that should resultin undamaged, representative test specimens. Chapter 6 describesprocedures for testing cores and detecting "outliers" by inspectionof loadmachine displacement curves or using statistical tests fromASTM E178. Chapter 7 summarizes the subsequent analysis of strengthtest data including use of ASTM C42/42M precision statements thatquantify expected variability of properly conducted tests for asample of homogeneous material, research findings concerningaccuracy of empirically derived core strength correction factors,and statistical analysis techniques that can determine if the datacan be grouped into unique categories. Chapter 8 briefly elaborateson criteria presented in ACI 318 for using core test results toinvestigate low-strength cylinder test results in newconstruction. Chapter 9 presents two methods for estimating the lowertenth-percentile value of in-place concrete strength using coretest data to quantify in-place strength. This value is equivalentto the specified compressive strength fc′ andcan be directly substituted into conventional strength equationswith customary strength reduction factors for strength evaluationof an existing structure. Example calculations are presented in an appendix for: • Outlier identification in accordance with ASTM E178criteria; • Determining whether a difference in mean strengths ofcores from beams and columns is statistically significant; and • Computing the equivalent specified strength using the twoapproaches presented in Chapter 9.

    适用范围:This report presents a unified approach to predicting the effect of moisture changes, sustained loading, and temperature on reinforced and prestressed concrete structures. Material response, factors affecting the structural response, and the response of structures in which the time change of stress is either negligible or significant are discussed. Simplified methods are used to predict the material response and to analyze the structural response under service conditions. While these methods yield reasonably good results, a close correlation between the predicted deflections, cambers, prestress losses, etc., and the measurements from field structures should not be expected. The degree of correlation can be improved if the prediction of the material response is based on test data for the actual materials used, under environmental and loading conditions similar to those expected in the field structures. These direct solution methods predict the response behavior at an arbitrary time step with a computational effort corresponding to that of an elastic solution. They have been reasonably well substantiated for laboratory conditions and are intended for structures designed using the ACI 318 Code. They are not intended for the analysis of creep recovery due to unloading, and they apply primarily to an isothermal and relatively uniform environment. Special structures, such as nuclear reactor vessels and containments, bridges or shells of record spans, or large ocean structures, may require further considerations which are not within the scope of this report. For structures in which considerable extrapolation of the state-of-the-art in design and construction techniques is achieved, long-term tests on models may be essential to provide a sound basis for analyzing serviceability response. Reference 109 describes models and modeling techniques of concrete structures. For mass-produced concrete members, actual size tests and service inspection data will result in more accurate predictions. In every case, using test data to supplement the procedures in this report will result in an improved prediction of service performance.

    适用范围:A nondestructive testing technique for locating flaws within concrete has been developed at the National Bureau of Standards (NBS [1-4]. The technique involves introducing transient stress waves into a test object by mechanical impact and monitoring the dynamic displacements caused by the arrival of waves reflected from internal defects and external boundaries. A transducer located close t o the impact point is used to monitor the surface displacement. Previously referred to as a pulse-echo method, the technique has come to be called the impact-echo method. The name "impact-echo" was adopted to distinguish the technique from traditional ultrasonic pulse-echo techniques in which one piezoelectric transducer is used both to generate the stress pulse and to monitor reflections. This paper describes significant improvements to the original measurement technique. Previously, recorded displacement waveforms were studied in the time domain and interpretation required determining the arrival times of wave reflections [1,2]. This time-consuming process has been replaced by frequency analysis, a simpler and more efficient method for data interpretation. In addition, this paper presents the results of laboratory studies using plain and reinforced concrete plates with known flaws and results obtained from a field study of an iceskating rink slab containing voids. Although this paper focuses primarily on the impact-echo measurement technique and on experimental results , a major part of the NES research program has been devoted t o understanding the physics involved in the test method. Theoretical and finite element studies of transient stress wave propagation in bounded solids with and without flaws have been performed [3-8]. The understanding gained from these studies provided the theoretical basis for the interpretation of the test results which are presented in this paper.
